Autumn 2022

1. First Chemistry Quiz
I got a 36% on my first quiz in CHEM 145. Though I had done relatively average on the quiz (the average was terrifyingly low), I had never gotten even close a score this low before. It reminded me to reframe my thinking now that I was attending university, preparing myself to not always be perfect, and allowing myself room to experience, learn, and grow from my mistakes or imperfect moments. Though it was a blow to my academic ego, it was an important learning experience that i'm glad happened early on in my college experience.
2. First Meal I Cooked in College
My second night at UW, some people I had just met that day and I decided to cook pasta for dinner. It was the first meal I cooked since getting to college, and was made alongside people I had just met that morning. For me, It was proof of my independence, and a signifying that I had actually made it to college. I'm still friends with the people I made the pasta with, and am now talking to them about living together in an apartment with them next year. This pasta is a lot more than just food, it's the start of my college journey.

3. First Concert in Seattle
Towards the middle of Fall Quarter I went to see Dayglow in concert. This was a moment of realizing I had actually made it to college, that I was able to go out and do my own things. Additionally, it made me realize even further how cool the city I lived in was, and how many artistic opportunities there are. Not only did I have a great time, but going with some newly found friends made me feel much more at home and secure in the place I ended up. (Also there was something incredibly special about my first concert living in a new city!)
